Sobo-Katamuki National Park / Katamuki Mountain
祖母・傾国定公園 傾山
Rising 1605 meters above sea level, the tallest of the three peaks of Katamuki Mountain is the tallest in the Kyushu Mountain Range. In winter the peaks are covered in white frost, and each year the climbing season begins on April 29.
Tansuke Mountain
丹助岳
Starting only a 20 minute drive from central Hinokage, it takes about 1.5 hours to reach the summit of Mt. Tansuke on foot. Approximately 2/3 of the way up are 8 small rest shelters. From the 816 meter summit there are views of Mt. Aso and the Okue mountain range, and the area has been designated as a scenic location by Miyazaki Prefecture.

In addition to the mountains above Hinokage is home to the Mt. Takajo, the summit of which can be reached by car in about 30 minutes, Mt. Togawa, Mt. Dodake, and Mt. Tokkin. Together, these mountains make Hinokage an ideal base for those who love to hike.
