Yato
Yato, a village on the eastern edge of Hinokage, is home to Kazuo Hiroshima, a traditional bamboo basket-maker, and Yato Kannon Falls. From the early part of the twentieth-century until it closed in 1967 the primary industry was a local copper mine.
Yato Kannon Waterfall
八戸観音滝
Falling some 41 meters in to a small pond, Yato Kannon Waterfall is known for its divine beauty. To the side of the waterfall are three images of Kannon, the Buddhist deity of mercy who is said to offer protection of women and children. Locals regonize the spot for its peace and tranquility.
