Hinokage Camp Village

Located along Hinokage River 10 minutes by car from central Hinokage, Hinokage Camp Village is open year round for fishing and other recreational uses.

Mizunashihira Campground

水無平自然キャンプ場

This campground in Mitate valley allows year-round fishing and beauty through the four seasons. In spring the mountains are green with fresh foliage, in summer a cool refreshing breeze blows, in fall changing leaves provide beautiful scenery, and in winter the trees are decorated with crystal-like frost.

Tansuke Mountain Campground

丹助岳キャンプ場

Accessible by car, this campground is located only a 20 minute hike from the top of Mt. Tansuke. From the summit of Mt. Tansuke it's possible to see Mt. Aso along with the Okue mountain range. Nearby there is the small Isaga Shrine, as well as rock outcropping where mythical goblins (tengu) are said to have gathered.

Takajo Mountain Campground

高城山自然キャンプ場

Takajo Mountain Campground is located near the summit of Mt. Takajo, from which its possible to see Mt. Aso, Mt. Sobo, Mt. Katamuki, Mt. Hontani, and Mt. Mukabaki in one panoramic view. In the spring the mountainside also sports various edible plants, including warabi (bracken fern) and zenmai (royal fern). In fall the area is known for blooming cosmos flowers and changing leaves, and in summer campers can try grass skiing.
