Hinokage Hot-Spring Station

日之影温泉駅

Hinokage's station on the former Takachiho Railroad is a rarity among train stations in Japan in that it has a hot-spring spa on its second floor. Open from 10 AM to 9 PM, the spa features indoor and outdoor baths and a sauna. The station also houses a resturaunt and a shop specializing in local products.

Himeno Shochu Distillery

姫泉酒造

Established in 1831 at its present location along the banks of the Gokase River, the Himeno Distellery has been producing shochu—a popular distilled alcoholic drink—ever since. Using traditional methods, Himeno Distillery produceses shochu from barley, rice, corn, and buckwheat.

Bamboo Crafts Museum

竹細工博物館

Located within a small local shop, Hinokage's Bamboo Crafts Museum has collected numerious baskets and related objects produced by hand by local artisans. The work of Kazuo Hiroshima, a basketmaker whose work has been exhibited extensively abroad and is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History, is featured prominently.

Tenjinyama Azalea Park

天神山つつじ公演

Located on a hillside near the Hinokage Community Center (chomin senta), Tenjinyama Azalea Park overflows with azalea blossoms every year in mid-April when roughly 15,000 plants bloom.
